Use the following instructions and resource to create a transcript for your video file.

  • If there are already closed captions for the video that are updated and understandable (with punctuation), then you don't need to go further.
  • If you have a script for the video file, simply upload the script near the video file linked in your course.
  • If you do not have a script, you can create an initial transcript by using a tool and then editing the result.
    • Follow this tutorial (Google Support) to get a Google Doc set up so it will transcribe for you.
    • Start playing your video so the Google tool can capture the transcript from the audio.
    • Afterwards, update the transcription with corrections and paragraph breaks to make the document easier to read.
    • Then, upload it into your course near the video file so that students can easily access it.
  • You can also use the website YouTube Transcript to automatically create the transcript so you can edit it in a Word document or Google doc to make it more easily read.
